Abstract
This conference paper treats the protection and transmission of intangible cultural heritage as both a cultural objective and a practical resource for rural revitalization. It identifies pressures created by modernization, including weakened cultural values, reduced spaces for practice, and declining continuity among inheritors.
Using the Mazhuang sachet tradition in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, as a case study, the paper considers how local cultural resources can be reorganized and connected with contemporary rural development. It proposes practical pathways that link living transmission, community participation, cultural identity, and sustainable cultural industries.
