Abstract
This article examines how the protection and transmission of intangible cultural heritage can contribute to rural revitalization. It analyses challenges affecting the Mazhuang sachet tradition in Xuzhou, including changing cultural environments, limited spaces for continued practice, and the need to connect inheritors with new audiences.
The study proposes practical pathways centred on living transmission, community participation, cultural identity, and responsible development. It argues that heritage can support rural cultural renewal when protection remains grounded in local knowledge and in the people who sustain the practice.
